Our client is promoting optimal health. The biotechnology company is a specialized laboratory service provider founded in 1997. It analyzes blood and tissue samples in order to diagnose diseases and markets those services to community-based hematologists and oncologists treating malignancies of the blood and bone marrow, as well as other types of cancer. Its key service offerings are COMPASS (short for Comprehensive Assessment) and CHART (newer service offering introduced in 2007).
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for general accounting functions of moderate to high complexity, with emphasis on the month-end close process, account reconciliations, financial reporting and support of the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Play a key role in driving the month-end close process to adequately meet deadlines
- Prepare journal entries, analyze transactions and prepare reconciliations for moderately complex accounts
- Assist in preparation and review of GAAP financial statements
- Identify and recommend efficiencies that can be achieved through system enhancements
- Liaise directly with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Research and implement new technical accounting pronouncements
- Provide ongoing support for financial planning & analysis, tax and risk management activities
- Other special projects, as required
Requirements
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred 5-8 years related experience; public company preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting theory
- Must be detail-oriented and analytical
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting theory
- Able to multitask in a growing, dynamic environment
- Possess excellent organization and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel
- Experience with Great Plains and FRx, or comparable systems, preferred
- System implementation experience is a plus
